ŁUKASZ WÓJCICKI
"Contacts With Nature"
The performance accompanying the exhibition by Krzysztof Maniak and Jadwiga Sawicka “Contacts with Nature” is a choreographic reading of the show and an attempt to embody the entangled relationships between humans and the natural world, drawing attention to the political dimension of this relation. The performer does not distance himself from nature by leaving it undisturbed, but instead immerses himself in its dark ecology in search of—following Timothy Morton—a “logic of future coexistence.”
Łukasz Wójcicki is a performer, dancer, choreographer, researcher, and art educator. His work focuses on the politics of the body, social choreography, and the deconstruction of privilege, patriarchy, and normativity. He explores new forms of presence in the context of ecological catastrophe, the crisis of capitalism, and decolonization. Between 2008 and 2018, he was a performer and dancer with the Komuna Warszawa. Since 2016, he has been involved in social and artistic projects of the Strefa WolnoSłowa, working as a performer and choreographer, including with migrant communities in Warsaw. Since 2019, he has been associated with the Theatre and Social Laboratory of the Stowarzyszenie Pedagogów Teatru. He is also a co-curator of the international festival on climate migration, “Re-think The Challenge.”
